for Hiking and Backpacking in Korea
There are about 3,100 islands in Korea; the biggest of which is the volcanic island of Jejudo ("do" means island) which is well known as resort area located off the southern coast of Korea. As one of Korea’s premiere tourist destinations, Jejudo boasts mild weather and exquisite beaches, waterfalls, cliffs and caves. Some of the top tourist sites include national parks with diverse flora and fauna, breathtaking views, and the world’s longest lava tube (a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site). Jejudo is also home to Hallasan: the tallest mountain in Korea. Spend the day scaling its slopes to the 1950m (6398ft) peak and caldera for breathtaking sights. For a less vertical trip, Jeju’s famous Olle Trail traverses more than 450km (280 miles) of walking and bike trails. The Olle trail’s many paths are particularly beautiful due to their proximity to the coastline. Jejudo, of course, is not the only island worth its weight in outdoor adventure. Most islands offer hiking and access to Korea’s abundant natural beauty.
